The roadblock loomed beyond lost destiny
Unrelenting theories believed even as startled free
The wings snipped beckoned the jailer’s need
Undeterred hero challenged the before
Dismantled the cage, each brick, each word
Tenderly mended the qualm to soar
Deep within, a hope that you are high and proud
As the predestined rejection did not impound
An escaping flight beyond a darkened cloud

I found this poem to have at its heart both pride and hope that even when our lives are cloudy and rejection is a fact of life, we can escape that rejection with hope and a deep sense of character:
